Chiunque di noi abbia mai provato a registrare un dominio .it sa bene che scoglio si dovesse affrontare, a causa di una lentezza insita nel processo di registrazione del nuovo dominio, composto da passaggi tra registrante, nic e registrars, il tutto utilizzando, tra l’altro, anche uno strumento ormai abbastanza inusuale per l’epoca in cui viviamo: il fax. Sebbene negli ultimi anni le procedure si siano snellite molto, la facilità con cui era possibile registrare domini con altri suffissi era molto distante dai vari passaggi in cui si componeva la procedura gestita dal Registro dei TLD italiani.
Dal 28 Settembre 2009, però, le procedure cambieranno, poichè il Registro permetterà la registrazione in modalità sincrona, seppur, per ora, affiancata alla vecchia modalità di registrazione asincrona. Registrare un dominio in tempo reale con il Registro del ccTLD italiano, quindi, non sarà più un’utopia.
Il Nic ne ha dato comunicazione ufficiale il giorno 19 Giugno 2009, con le seguenti parole:
Sincrono .it in tempo reale
Dal 28 settembre 2009 sarà possibile registrare i nomi a dominio .it in tempo reale. La pubblicazione dei nuovi Regolamenti , approvati dalla Commissione Regole il 5 giugno u.s, è il primo passo per l’avvio del nuovo sistema di registrazione in modalità sincrona. Per due anni il sistema sincrono affiancherà, senza sostituirla, la modalità di registrazione attuale (asincrona).
Per registrare, modificare, cancellare un dominio .it sarà sufficiente rivolgersi ad un Registrar che potrà operare direttamente sul database dei domini, senza dover inviare alcuna documentazione cartacea al Registro.

Fax illeggibile, firma non leggibile, fax non arrivato (avevo la ricevuta del mio fax), fax occupato per ore, gente che risponde al numero del fax…
Quando lo dico ad amici esteri che per attivare un dominio web devo mandare un fax con la firma (leggibile, mi raccomando!) mi guardano stranito.

Gia’ adesso i MNT possono utilizzare il sistema ELAR che permette di inviare la LAR in formato PDF tramite email diminuendo i tempi di registrazione.
In effetti il nuovo sistema, quando funzionera’ a pieno, sara’ decisamente piu’ agile!
