Facebook vuole espandere la propri utenza andando a pescare anche una cerchia di persone che fino ad ora non hanno avuto la possibilità di visitare il portale in blu. Stiamo parlando dei non vedenti che presto potranno navigare sul social network senza problemi.
In questo modo, oltre ad aumentare il numero d’accessi, Facebook si distinguerebbe da tutti gli altri social network che non offrono ancora questo servizio e, dunque, emergerebbe ancora di più.
Al momento esiste solo una community social, di successo, riservata alle persone affette da cecità: Blindworks. Per quanto quest’ultima riesca a soddisfare gli utenti, sicuramente Facebook risulta essere un social network più popolato e, di conseguenza, interessante.
I ricercatori del Department of Programming Languages and Systems dell’Università di Granada stanno lavorando ad uno speciale software che trasformerà la creatura di Mark Zuckerberg in un perfetto ambiente per coloro che non possono contare sul senso della vista.
Quest’idea non è nata dal nulla o semplicemente dal voler imitare il già presente Blindworks, è stata l’organizzazione ONCE (ente di diritto pubblico spagnolo a sostegno di ciechi e ipovedenti) che ha lanciato forti critiche sui social network odierni. Questi ultimi, infatti, non si sono mostrati sensibili verso le persone non vedenti ed hanno semplicemente deciso di ignorarle.
Facebook, il portale più visitato, potrebbe finalmente aprire le sue porte agli utenti che non ne potevano avere accesso e, in questo modo, riuscirebbe a conquistare molti punti su avversari come Twitter e Google Plus.
Dopo la notizia, che ormai risulta di dominio pubblico, anche altri grandi spazi sociali decideranno di imbarcarsi in dei progetti per non vedenti?

Uso il sito mobile sia su windows sia su mac. anche se su mac devo adottare un piccolo accorgimento se no mi rileva il sito per dispositivi touch… devo dire a safari di comportarsi come fosse firefox. cambiare l’user-agent insomma. Poi uso l’app iPhone/iPad che è abbastanza gestibile anche se alcune funzioni ancora mancano. si, iPhone e iPad hanno una funzione di screen reader per non vedenti: impostazioni, generali, accessibilità, voiceover.
questa applicazione di terze parti di cui parlate, è una soluzione tampone ma che non risolve il problema…
facebook comunque ha aperto una sezione accessibility – http://www.facebook.com/accessibility non ci sono ancora andata dentro, ma vuol dire che comunque vogliono migliorare le soluzioni al problema. Ma le applicazioni fatte e sponsorizzate dalle associazioni sono solo un altro modo per permettere a queste -le associazioni- di farsi i cazzi nostri. no, grazie

Buona sera, ho letto l’interessantissimo articolo che si sta lavorando per accessibilizzare facebook anche per noi non vedenti. Se ciò avvenisse sarebbe veramente una bella cosa che anche noi ciechi e ipovedenti possiamo usare in totale autonomia facebook. Allo stato attuale nella pagina mobile di FB si può usare bene o male il social network ma sicuramente facebook ha delle carenze che spero che nel progetto accessibilità per noi non vedenti si possa rissolvere.
Allo stato attuale di facebook quando si vuole leggere delle chat le chat non vengono lette in automatico da nessun screen reader, e in questo caso non vi è neppure una combinazione di tasti di poter leggere almeno le 10 chats presenti nella finestra.
Questa sicuramente sarebbe una opzione che potrebbe essere introdotta in facebook.
Di seguito ho constatato che continuano a modificare il diario non stando attenti all’inaccessibilità. Chi prova il nuovo diario sia con lo screen reader jaws che con lo screen reader Nvda, nota che non si riesce più ad eliminare i posts presenti nel proprio diario o bacheca.
Per me accessibilità si gnifica uguaglianza dei diritti.
In fine un punto molto carente sono i captcha. Pur essendoci gli audio captcha, molti di essi non sono accessibili.
Allora come ovviare a tutto ciò?
Su un sito gestito da due non vedenti, Simone Dalmaso e Gianluca Casalino, quando sul forum si vuole scrivere un commento ma invece di digitare un image captcha, si deve rissolvere una math question: ossia un quitz matematico. Un piccolo esempio: 2+2=? e l’utente deve scrivere nel campo dei captcha il risultato del quiz matematico che in questo caso è 4.
Se l’utente sbaglia il risultato ne viene proposto uno più semplice a finché l’utente non metta il risultato giusto nel campo del captcha.
Questa opzione non solo è accessibile a qualsiasi screen reader, ma blocca anche gli spammer.
Allora che cosa aspettare ad introdurre tale funzione in facebook e in tutti i siti presenti con un captcha?
Molti creatori di siti web non sanno di software per ciechi, o del captcha math question ecc. ecc. ma è giusto che con educazione si faccia presente la questione per sensibilizzare ulteriormente l’accessibilità e per aprire nuove bariere.
