Carissimi amici geek, eccoci tornati ad affrontare nuovamente l’importantissimo tema legato al mondo della traduzione a costo zero. Dopo aver visto, la scorsa settimana, una lista contenente i migliori 8 software per tradurre, siamo infatti qui a proporvi l’elenco dei migliori 8 servizi on-line per tradurre.

WordReference: probabilmente il miglior traduttore on-line, tramite il quale è possibile effettuare traduzioni in numerose lingue (inglese, italiano, spagnolo, francese, tedesco, portoghese, polacco, rumeno, russo, turco, ed altro), avvalendosi inoltre di un utilissimo plug-in di ricerca veloce per il browser e di un forum assai ricco di contenuti interessanti.

  4. InterTran: buon traduttore on-line, che supporta numerose lingue (italiano, inglese, portoghese, francese, tedesco, spagnolo, ed altro), e consente di tradurre intere frasi.
  5. PROMT: traduttore non certo annoverabile tra i servizi del settore più utilizzati al mondo, ma estremamente valido. Permette di tradurre intere frasi, e supporta tutte le “maggiori” lingue.
  6. Free Translator: altro traduttore senza peculiarità rivoluzionarie, ma che garantisce ottimi risultati nella traduzione di intere frasi in numerose lingue.
  7. Free Translation: traduttore di buona fattura, utile alla traslitterazione di frasi, parole ed intere pagine web.
  8. WorldLingo: rinomato traduttore sul web, che consente di tradurre intere frasi in tutte le “maggiori” lingue (inglese, italiano, francese, spagnolo, tedesco, ed altro).

    Ma WordReference il migliore?
    Forse il peggiore, visto che è l’unico che non premette di tradurre frasi intere ma solo una parola per volta.

  3. Wordreference è ottimo… proprio per il forum che si può consultare… il 90% delle volte trovi la definizione o quella particolare sfumatura di significato che dia una logica al contesto.

    I sistemi di traduzione automatica non traducono parola per parola ma per segmenti, in genere frasi.
    I sistemi di traduzione automatica sono sostanzialmente di due tipi: basati su regole e statistici. A seconda del tipo di testo da tradurre (il testo di partenza) e il sistema usato la qualità del testo tradotto (il testo di arrivo) e la relativa sintassi possono variare enormemente.

    Sia Babelfish che Worldlingo, ad esempio, usano il motore Systran che è basato su regole: viene analizzata la frase della lingua di partenza da un punto di vista morfologico e sintattico, per poi “generare” la frase nella lingua di arrivo applicando regole specifiche. Con i sistemi basati su regole, se il testo di partenza ha una struttura lineare, priva di ambiguità sintattiche e semantiche, quindi facilmente analizzabile dal motore di traduzione, in genere la qualità del testo tradotto sarà più alta.

    Google e Windows Live Translator, invece, usano un sistema di tipo statistico: il motore di traduzione automatica è stato “addestrato” con quantitativi enormi di traduzioni (testo di partenza e di arrivo) che vengono usate come riferimento; quando viene sottoposto un testo da tradurre, il sistema usa dei modelli statistici per generare frasi tradotte più probabili in base a questo materiale. Con i sistemi statistici, se il testo di partenza, anche se complesso, è simile a testo usato per l’addestramento, risulterà più “familiare” per motore di traduzione e in genere la qualità del testo tradotto sarà più alta.

    Ti suggerirei di fare un po’ di prove e decidere quali sono i due motori di traduzione che preferisci, uno basato su regole e uno di tipo statistico, e quando una traduzione non ti soddisfa affatto, provarla con l’altro motore.

    Per contenuto di tipo informatico (es. guide del software) i motori di tipo statistico sono decisamente preferibili perché esiste moltissimo materiale di riferimento per l’addestramento e quindi la probabilità che il motore abbia avuto a che fare con testo simile è molto più alta.
