AMD ha da poco annunciato i primi tre processori Ryzen basati sull’architettura Zen. L’annuncio è stato fatto in occasione del ’evento Tech Day di San Francisco durante il quale, appunto, l’azienda ha svelato specifiche, prezzi e disponibilità della serie high-end Ryzen 7, ovvero quella che competerà contro i Core i7 di Intel. Le CPU di fascia media (Ryzen 5) e bassa (Ryzen 3) verranno invece presentati nei prossimi mesi.
I processori Ryzen, realizzati con tecnologia di processo a 14 nanometri, integrano 4,8 miliardi di transistor. La serie Ryzen 7 è costituita dai modelli 1800X, 1700X e 1700, tutti con otto core e sedici thread (Simultaneous Multi-Threading). Le frequenze di clock sono 3,6 GHz (4 GHz turbo), 3,4 GHz (3,8 GHz turbo) e 3 GHz (3,7 GHz turbo), mentre i TDP sono 95, 95 e 65 Watt.
I prezzi consigliati dall’azienda stessa sono, rispettivamente, 499, 399 e 329 dollari, cifre molto inferiori a quelli dei Core i7 corrispondenti. Tutte e tre le CPU arriveranno sul mercato il 2 marzo, ma già da adesso è possibile ordinarle presso i rivenditori autorizzati.
L’obiettivo di AMD era incrementare il numero di istruzioni per clock (IPC) del 40%. L’azienda è invece riuscita a superare il target iniziale, ottenendo un miglioramento del 52%. Secondo i test condotti, il Ryzen 7 1800X è il 9% più veloce del Core i7-6900X nel benchmark Cinebench R15 multi-thread mentre il Ryzen 7 1700X supera il Core i7-6800K con un +39%.
Il Ryzen 7 1700 è stato invece definito invece il processore ad otto core con i consumi più bassi del mondo. Questo è anche l’unico processore dei tre ad essere venduto anche in versione boxed con dissipatore Wraith Spire.
