La messa a segno dell’acquisizione, avvenuta tempo addietro, di WhatsApp da parte di Facebook ha fatto si che il celebre servizio di instant messaging entrasse in toto a far parte della già variegata galassia Mark Zuckerberg. A detta di alcuni i due mondi in questione potrebbero però attrarsi ancor di più con una fusione all’interno di un unico sistema.
A far scatenare tale ipotesi è stata la comparsa online, avvenuta proprio nel corso degli ultimi giorni, di un semplice sottodominio che al momento non sembra avere nessuna utilità ma che di certo fa nascere non pochi interrogativi.
Collegandosi infatti all’indirizzo alpha.whatsapp.com ci si ritrova dinanzi l’indicazione testuale “Login via Facebook”. Facendo click sulla voce “Facebook” si apre un’applicazione che richiede le credenziali per il login sul social network. Dopo il login non succede però nulla di nuovo sul proprio profilo WhatsApp e non si ottiene alcun servizio in più rispetto a quanto già offerto. La cosa è probabilmente collegata alla presenza dell’indicazione alpha nell’indirizzo web scovato che, appunto, fa pensare ad una sorta di progetto al momento in fase di evoluzione che è stato lasciato in vista per attirare l’attenzione, far aumentare la curiosità e, perché no, stimolare qualche test.
Al momento non risultano disponibili ulteriori informazioni ma è comunque possibile avanzare qualche ipotesi su ciò che bolle in pentola. La prima cosa che quanto scovato fa venire in mente è indubbiamente il lancio di un sistema di login unificato tra i due servizi, una soluzione questa che potrebbe offrire non pochi vantaggi sia per il gruppo sia per l’utenza. Con un login unificato l’utente finale si ritroverebbe infatti a poter accedere a Facebook tramite QR Code come accade ad oggi con WhatsApp Web mentre gli utilizzatori di WhatsApp potrebbero ricavare informazioni e contatti mediante il proprio account Facebook. L’ipotesi di una fusione tra i due servizi appare invece molto improbabile o comunque abbastanza remota.
